Said and Done
“This a big watch, diamonds drippin’ off of the clock” are the words I’ve been hearing play through my computer speaker as I grind on my work or through my headphones when I’m on my way to the office. However today, as I walked through the busy crowds on Church Street, I heard these words play through the speakers of a random white car passing by. Wow… “Gucci Flip Flops”, one of the greatest songs to come out of our generation, written by 15-year-old Bhad Bhabie in little ‘ole Boynton Beach Florida in 2018, was playing right here in Bangalore just for me to hear. I was too stunned to speak; I wish I could’ve met the person in that car; maybe there wasn’t even a person playing it, perhaps it was just the wind. It felt like god but not God was staring down at me, trying to tell me he saw me and that Bhad Bhabie was going to carry me through this.
It’s not like this is some really popular song amongst the international youth; no, “Gucci Flip Flops” only ranked 79th in the US Billboard Hot 100, and like 1,389th in India. Crazy things happen here, things I’d never expect, and this is just another one of those things. Bhad Bhabie, otherwise known as Danielle Bregoli, half Jewish, half Italian, raised Catholic, born November 26, 2003, a Sagittarius, just like me, wearing a watch, just like me. An icon, a true hustler, and a living legend.
Today a message was sent to me from higher-ups of the universe that Bhad Bhabie is who we should all be embodying as we get through these last 2 weeks of GCIL. The line, “This a big clock, check the wrist watch” really resonates with me right now, because as I look down at my watch, I can see that time… is running out.
