To Be Determined

gcil

I woke up more excited than usual; today was my first day with my organization, Swasti. Since I did not know exactly what I would be doing with them, I eagerly looked forward to arriving and beginning work with my team. Since starting GCIL, family and friends have asked me, “Adam what are you doing with Swasti?” and I always responded with “Not really sure yet.” I came early for breakfast and got ready for my late mid-day meeting. After a 30-minute nausea-inducing ride, I finally arrived at the offices. After sitting through an hour-long meeting with the entire office, I saw a warm encounter representative of the culture at Swasti. A birthday chant over a cake with large sparkler candles lit the room, and a conversation ensued. Finally, my team and I got to talk with Narayana about our duties. In short, he is not fully sure what we will be doing, only tomorrow we will find out. All my anticipation did not go away as I expected it to earlier in the day; instead it will be with me until a later date that is to be determined. After a quick two hours at Swasti, my team and I enjoyed a spicy Thai meal. Following that, I arrived at my most anticipated store in Bangalore, the Rams Musique record store. I was able to buy Avial, a fun Indian rock album, which blew me away. After an hour’s walk in the heat, I arrived back in UTC. While the day started off with high expectations, I did feel like it was a bit uneventful. It is important for me to accept this, and not be held up by previous expectations. I should be going with the flow and accepting that I cannot always know when something will happen.
