My Ideal Day

gcil

My Sunday began at 6 in the morning in the streets of White Town, Punducherry, following Monika and Kiara as we looked for a rickshaw driver to take us to Serenity Beach to watch the sunrise. After Monika successfully flagged one down, we all loaded into the auto and clenched tightly to our belongings as our rickshaw driver weaved through the morning traffic, shaving a good 5 minutes off our otherwise 15 minute ride. We arrived just in time and found a nice spot near the surf and watched the morning sun casts its golden hues across the horizon and the beach slowly opening up for the day.

While waiting for Guru Surf School to open, we walked to the local corner stores and got some chai and beach snacks to last us until lunch. After renting out our surfboards, Monika and I carried them into the water for a morning of being pelted by waves and occasionally catching one. We spent the rest of the morning jumping in the waves, seashell hunting and laying out before the UV got too strong.

After a morning filled with adventure and serenity, we needed a taste of home and of course got Taco Bell. A perfect ending to my ideal morning.

I think this weekend was exactly what I needed to refuel and prepare myself for the rigorous couple of weeks ahead. In the moments where I may be too stressed to function, I’ll have memories like that morning to remind me to take it one day at a time and that everything will work out just fine.
